Ian awarded life membership

20/08/2008 5:00:00 AM
The Bowman River Fire Brigade has for the first time, awarded a life membership to its longest serving member, Ian Grant. This honour is only given to members with an exemplary record of service and is taken very seriously by the Rural Fire Service.

Mr Grant has held virtually every position within the brigade and attended numerous incidents over the last 40 years in the local area.

During the award presentation Mr Grant paid his respects to active members who have held office in the Bowman River Fire Brigade and thanked the ladies in the committee who work tirelessly raising funds throughout the year.

Mr Grant also recalled the early days of his firefighting service when the equipment consisted of nothing more than a few napsaks and a Macleod Tool.

The Bowman River Fire Brigade are proud to be able to honour Mr Grant in this way.
