Lucas site investigations to start

26/11/2008 4:00:00 AM
Lucas Energy is planning to start exploration works in the coming weeks to confirm the company’s understanding of the available resources within the Gloucester Basin.

Drilling works will take place in the following four locations; Gloucester towards the Avon River, towards the end of Fairbairns Road, south of Gloucester between Bucketts Way South and the Avon River, and south of Stratford.

All sites will be drilled as production wells and may have enclosed flares attached once completed.

In addition to these works, Lucas Energy will also drill a core hole to the south east off McKinley’s Lane to determine resources in that area. This core sampling will help geologists determine coal thickness and gas levels to expand the existing available data.

Drilling and completion of these wells should be completed prior to Christmas. Production testing of these wells will continue for several months.

The company will trial 24 hour drilling in some of these locations. The company said all plant and equipment will be appropriately noise attenuated and include controlled directional lighting. All work will be conducted in accordance with the relevant guidelines.

Lucas Energy will be holding regular drop-in-sessions at their office at 22 Tate Street (old Forestry office) every Thursday from 12 midday to 4pm. Members of the project team will be able to talk about the project and answer any questions.

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
