The show must go on

After an intermission of nearly 50 years it took no persuading to get former ticket seller Beryl Bowden back in the booth for STARS inaugral movie matinee at the Stroud School of Arts last Sunday.

Despite a technical hitch – our advertised feature got left behind and a substitute offered (we promise to rectify this shortly) – it was a great opportunity to showcase the recent improvements undertaken at the Shool of Arts: new paintwork, new wiring and lighting, new flooring, new paths and drainage.

STARS would like to thank everyone who came and supported us and for the Buladelah Film Society for making this possible. We would also like to thank Clr. Karen Hutchinson for her announcements and for her continued loyal support and encouragement.

STARS’ next venture will be to co-host the Forster Short Film Festival coming to the Stroud Country Club on September 6.

We are thrilled that the Festival is coming to our township, offering diversity to our culture and alleviating our need to travel to Forster – much better for the environment – and your support will help promote and encourage talented Aussie film makers.

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
