2008 marks 25 years since Avon Valley Field Archers was formed. One of our archer’s mother’s Trish Greenaway has spent much of her time recently researching the history of the club. We still have some older club members, Jeff and Irene Jennings involved in the club as well as Michael Greenaway.
Many of our members now come from different areas including Maitland, Wingham, Dungog, and as far away as the Central Coast. The club has a record membership of 65 of members. A few years ago the club was close to closing but a determined membership drive has help swell the club numbers.
Many members travel away to different competition shoots all over Australia. We are always well represented in all our divisions including the cubs, juniors, men’s and ladies divisions.
The club is hosting the Northern NSW Branch IFAA Titles on 9th and 10th August, 2008. This is an International Competition and many archers will be coming from all over Northern NSW the Shoot. To make this a special occasion for the club and the Shooters in Northern NSW we are celebrating our Birthday over the weekend.
Later in the year we are looking to have a fun day and invite past and present members to join in and celebrate 25 years of great archery in a fantastic club.
Congratulations Avon Valley Field Archers and Happy Birthday.
