Championship singles at women’s bowls

14/05/2008 4:00:00 AM
Four major championship singles were played last week. Lorraine Holmes won over Joy Mackenzie; Joan Ridgeway won over Heather Williams; Pat Cox won over Ruth Westbury, and Pirjo Maurer won over Daph Wilson.

It was trophy day for the social players. Winners were Bev Murray, Jean Holstein, Mary Wade and Olga Sharp; runners-up were Kerry Green, Joy Myers, and Nance Gundry.

Spider winner was Pauline Pamenter.

Raffle winners were Ruth Westbury, Maureen Knight and Jill Everett.

The Mother’s Day raffle was also drawn with lucky winners, 1st prize Norma Relf and 2nd prize Katharine Wilson.

The end of the year committee luncheon will be held on Friday, May 30, time 12pm for 12.30pm at the bowling club restaurant.

Our annual fees for 2008-2009 are now due and must be paid on or before May 31 so as to be eligible to vote at the annual meeting on Wednesday, June 18 at 10am. Notices were given out to each member.

Anyone with badges is asked to return them to the secretary before the meeting.

Uniform must be worn that day (as it is a bowling day).

Bowls will be played after lunch for those wishing to play.

Nomination forms are on the board for those wishing to nominate for a position – these close a fortnight before the meeting.

The sheet for names of those wishing to play in the Bonnie Hazelwood Drawn Fours is on the board. These games will be played on a Friday.

The District Fours were played at Taree West yesterday and a shame our two teams had to play one another.

Our Bucketts Triples has had a change of date due to one green that will be out. The new date is Wednesday, November 5.
