A strong team of Gloucester High School athletes competed at the Hunter Region CHS Athletics Carnival last week in Newcastle. Many of the school’s athlete’s have gained selection for the Hunter Region team to compete at the State CHS Championships to be held at Homebush in September.
Individual athletes Natalie Ferris, Mikaela White, Rick Williams and Peter Reynolds qualified, while the U/12 and U/15s Girls’ relay teams qualified.
Natalie Ferris finished second in the U/15s 200m and also qualified on times for the 200m hurdles and the 90m hurdles. Mikaela White finished second in the U/14s Long Jump, Rick Williams came first in the U/14 Boys High Jump and Peter Reynolds finished second in both the U12s Discus and Long Jump.
The U/12 Girls relay team consisting of Lily Burrows, Caitlin Johns, Veda Steadman and Katie Kelly qualified first, running an exceptional time while the U/15s relay team only just missed breaking the Region record in finishing first in their race. That team consisted of Natalie Ferris, Mikaela White, Nina Burrows and Indigo Rosenblatt. Well done and Good luck at State!
