Junior rodeo gains

20/02/2008 4:00:07 AM
The 2008 Glowalman Championshp Junior Rodeo series will celebrate its 25th anniversary in July.

And the organising committee now has another reason to celebrate, it has signed up a naming rights sponsor for the event, SNP Security.

SNP Security is Australia’s largest family owned security company, founded in 1923.

The Glowalmans, held in the July school holidays each year, started in 1984 with three days of events held at Gloucester, Wallanbah and Manning. In the first year around 60 competitors took part in five events, campdraft, stock rider, bend, flag and barrel race.

Today, an average 500 competitors compete in six age groups in campdraft and stock rider, five sporting and 10 rodeo events over five full days.

In 2004, the Western Australian – Glowalman rider exchange was introduced.

Each year two Western Australian juvenile competitors are chosen to compete at the Glowalmans, and in return, two Glowalman competitors are given the chance to head west and compete in the WA juvenile champions held at the Coolup and Capel campdrafts.
